After a lot of research and study, I have decided to take down my behavior clip chart in the classroom. I WILL be using Class Dojo in a different way. The kids will work as a group to earn dojo points and reach goals that we set. Students will not accumulate or lose personal points. If you have heard of class dojo, you probably know that it is a great parent-teacher communication tool. I would love to take advantage of that aspect this year with you! The link below will take you to the site. You will receive information and access codes to set up your personal accounts. We can communicate privately regarding behavior, questions, concerns, or just information sharing. You will also see photos, announcements, class stories, and videos from this site that the kids and I will watch here at school.
Instead of the traditional clip chart like the one below, the kids and I will create a list of class promises and discuss rewards (tangible and intangible) for keeping them. We will also study our classroom handbook and refer to it throughout the school year when needed. If a child struggles to keep the promises or follow the handbook you should expect to see a reflection note that identifies the trouble and sets forth a plan to avoid it in the future.
